Global logistics giant acquires Volvo electric trucks in Singapore

Summary

  • Global logistics leader DSV has introduced Volvo Electric Trucks to its Singapore operations as part of its push toward sustainable transport solutions. The move marks a major milestone under the Singapore Green Plan 2030, reinforcing DSV’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and setting a new standard for green logistics in the region.
  • The newly deployed Volvo FL Electric and FM Electric trucks offer zero-emission operations, quieter performance, and reduced maintenance costs. Tailored to Singapore’s logistics landscape, the FL supports urban last-mile deliveries while the FM is optimized for longer hauls. Volvo’s upcoming long-range FH Electric model, set for 2025, will extend electric truck capabilities to journeys of up to 600 km.
  • DSV’s partnership with Volvo Trucks and UD Trucks Singapore includes a seven-year service agreement and comprehensive driver training to ensure seamless integration. The initiative builds on DSV’s growing electric fleet and complements its global expansion following the acquisition of DB Schenker, positioning the company at the forefront of sustainable logistics innovation.

Volvo Electric Trucks is at the forefront of the movement towards electrifying transportation, mobility, and equipment industries, significantly aiding customers in reducing their carbon emissions. We aim to address our customers’ sustainability challenges from both a customer and societal point of view. Likewise, the Singapore Green Plan 2030 is a comprehensive effort involving the entire nation to push forward Singapore’s goals for sustainable development. Having two key sustainable stakeholders within one country could potentially pave the way for a sustainable future in the near future.
“Launching our new electric fleet marks a pivotal moment for DSV in Singapore. It’s not just about adopting new technology; it’s about leading the way toward a greener, more sustainable future. We are thrilled by the positive feedback from clients and are confident that this initiative will bring us closer to achieving our long-term sustainability goals.” Gino Marzola, Managing Director of DSV Air & Sea Singapore & Malaysia said.

Support and After-Sales Services

To ensure seamless integration of Volvo’s electric trucks into DSV’s operations in Singapore, the company is providing comprehensive support through a 7-year Gold Service Agreement, which covers all service and repairs. Additionally, UD Trucks Singapore provided driver training before the handover, ensuring DSV’s team is well-prepared to operate the vehicles efficiently.
“We are excited to be part of this green transition alongside DSV and Volvo Trucks. Providing comprehensive training and after-sales support to ensure these electric trucks deliver on their promise is at the heart of our commitment to helping Singapore achieve its sustainability goals. With the combination of innovative technology and strong customer support, we are confident that DSV will see excellent operational performance and long-term value from these vehicles.”Joseph Heng, General Manager of UD Trucks Singapore, said.
