Singapore, 5 December 2025 — GS1 Singapore, together with the Asia Pacific Green Alliance (APGA) and the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF), opened the Go Green Go Global Hackathon 2025 this morning. Supported by Enterprise Singapore, the event brings students, technologists and industry partners together to develop ideas that strengthen transparency, sustainability and digital readiness in supply chains.GS1 Singapore, APGA and SMF are not-for-profit organisations that support businesses by promoting common standards, improving traceability and helping companies understand regulatory expectations. The hackathon forms part of their wider work to encourage practical solutions that industries can adopt.In his opening remarks, Mr Ryan Chioh, Chairman of GS1 Singapore, said the event comes at a time when companies are facing growing pressure to improve sustainability performance and data quality. He encouraged participants to create solutions that are realistic for businesses to apply, regardless of size.Attendees also heard from Mr Christopher Ang, CEO of GS1 Singapore, and Ms Clara Kwan, Chief Sustainability Officer at APGA/SMF. They noted that expectations around ESG reporting, product transparency and data governance are increasing, and highlighted the importance of developing tools that support these needs in a consistent way.Finalist teams are presenting a wide range of ideas, including refillable and trackable packaging, farm-to-kitchen visibility, circular cup systems, AI-supported sustainability analytics and new applications of QR and digital link standards. These projects address issues that companies and regulators are currently working on, from waste reduction to product authentication.The judging panel includes experts from IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Razer, SMU and FedEx. They will evaluate each proposal on its technical strength, relevance to industry and potential environmental impact.
